The guided interview is an optional but recommended step, available from both Chat mode and Form mode, that sharpens your first draft by asking a short round of specific, grounded questions instead of leaving aiKit to guess at the gaps in what you've told it.
The interview runs in up to 3 rounds total, and each round is its own short batch of multiple-choice questions with a visible progress bar and text reading "Round X of 3 — Question Y of Z," so you always know where you are and roughly how much is left in the current round.
Crucially, each round after the first is generated based on what you actually answered in the round before it — not a fixed script. If your answers reveal something worth digging into, the next round's questions reflect that. While aiKit is preparing the next round, a status line reads "Reading your answers so far and finding the next real questions…"
It's marked "Recommended" for a reason: because later rounds are grounded in your actual answers rather than being generic, the guided interview tends to produce a noticeably more specific and complete first draft than skipping straight to build. That said, it's genuinely optional — if you already know exactly what you want and would rather see a draft immediately, the direct path is always available too.
